Mobile Dispatchers (iOS and Android)

Dispatchers have the ability to manage their call queue from a mobile device, keeping their communication seamless throughout the day— even when they're not sitting at their desk.

This article applies to mobile dispatchers—AKA dispatchers who answer calls from their mobile device. For information on accepting calls from Zello's desktop app Dispatch Hub, see this article

Functionality

This functionality is only available for users assigned the role "dispatcher" in dispatch channels. Mobile dispatcher functionality operates similarly to dispatcher functionality on Dispatch Hub (Zello's desktop app), albeit with some limitations; this article primarily concerns managing dispatch calls on a mobile device.

When a dispatcher receives a call on mobile, they'll be notified via a banner at the top of the channel's talk screen.

To accept the call, tap Accept.

Pending dispatch calls will also appear in the Recents tab via a red missed message indicator. Tap the message to open the channel's talk screen and accept the call.

When you're in an active call, only messages from that call will play. If a message from another channel comes in, you'll see a banner indicating activity in that channel; the message will be stored in the channel's history for later consumption.

Broadcasts

Dispatchers can send broadcasts to drivers by pressing the channel's talk screen button. By default, broadcasts will be sent to all drivers in a channel, but this configuration can be altered via the channel's user roles according to these instructions.

To Note

  • Mobile dispatchers won't have access to all features available on Dispatch Hub (desktop app). For example, call transfer isn't available on the mobile app, nor are maps

  • Dispatch analytics include mobile dispatcher activity.

  • Only users assigned the role "dispatcher" from the respective channel's details page will be able to accept mobile dispatch calls.
