Zello offers multiple map-based features to enhance device tracking capabilities, meet compliance requirements, and understand team member availability, needs, and productivity.
Offered features include:
- Real-time location tracking
- Historical breadcrumb tracking
- Google Maps traffic data
- User status and battery life
Real-time location tracking
Real-time location tracking provides insight into a user's live location, enabling responsive coordination and oversight.
Please note: You may notice that some users' dots are blue while others' are purple. Blue dots means the user's location data is current and has been updated according to your configured time interval; purple dots indicate the data may be outdated. See this article for more information.
Historical Breadcrumb tracking
Historical breadcrumb tracking provides a time-stamped trail of a user's previous locations.
Clicking on a blue dot gives you the time, travel speed, and battery life of the user's device at that point in time. Additionally, clicking Open in Google Maps will open the user's coordinates at that time in Google Maps.
To access a user's historical breadcrumb tracking, open the Maps tab and click on the user's dot. Then select View Location History.
Note that this feature is only available for networks operating on the Plus or Enterprise pricing tiers.
Google Maps traffic
When Google Maps traffic is enabled, admins can view real-time traffic flows—including issues like road closures and backups—from the Management Console.
Show Traffic toggle enabled | Show Traffic toggle disabled |
Note that traffic is only available for networks operating on the Plus or Enterprise pricing tiers.
User status and battery life
Clicking on a user's map dot will open a menu that includes the user's battery life, status, local time, and speed (if moving).
For additional information about accessing the Management Console's maps, see this article.
