Display names are the names visible to users when an individual sends a message on their Zello Work network. Unlike usernames—which are assigned at user creation and thereafter fixed—display names can be changed at any time. They are often clearer and more intuitive than usernames, making it easier to identify exactly who is communicating.
If allowed by your network admin, individual users can edit their display names through the Zello app. When a display name is not assigned, the sender's username will be attached to all communications.
Please Note: Individual users can only update their display name if the network admin has left the Display Name field blank on the user's profile in the management console. Admins — to access a user's profile, log in to the management console at yournetworkname.zellowork.com and select Users from the taskbar. |
Adding or editing the display name on a user's device
- Open Zello on your device. From either your Recents, Contacts, or Channels tab, tap your user icon (located at the top-left of your screen). Then tap it again.
- Enter your desired display name in the Name field, then click Save.
- When you send messages to others, your display name will appear as the sender.
Please note: A display name can be edited at any time so long as your network admin has not assigned your user profile a display name in the management console.
-If the admin enters a display name, that name will override any entries assigned by users.
-If a display name is not entered by either the admin or user, others will receive your communications from your username.
