Android users may be prompted to grant Zello permissions to display over other apps. These permissions enable Zello's full functionality, ensuring your communications don't miss a beat.  They're required for Zello to:

Receive messages while Zello runs in the background

If Zello is running on your device but not actively on your screen—for example, you've opened another app but haven't entirely closed Zello—you'll be notified of + receive new messages.

This ensures your communications remain continuous even as you're executing other tasks.

Emergency calls  If your network utilizes emergency alerts, allowing Zello to display over other apps ensures you'll receive emergency notifications even if you're using another application and Zello is running in the background.
Overlay buttons An overlay button is a Zello talk button that remains in the foreground while you're operating in other apps. These buttons are only available for Android, and they enable users to easily message specific users or channels—even if they're in another app.
Automatic shift cancellation  If your team utilizes Zello's shared devices feature, this permission allows shift workers to see the Shift Cancellation Countdown (and if need be, cancel it).
