Group conversations allow Android and iOS users to send on-the-fly group messages to their contacts. They're well-suited for quick, temporary chats between a few users, keeping communications focused and streamlined.
Admins can enable and/or disable group conversations for their network from the management console's settings (Common > General). Group channels are a supplement—not a replacement—to regular network channels created by admins in the management console; because these conversations are created by users, they are not privy to the same configuration capabilities as regular channels.
There are two ways to create a group conversation:
- From the Recents screen
- From the Contacts screen
Creating a Group Conversation From the Recents Tab
This task is performed on the user's device (Android or iOS).
- Open the Recents tab and tap the + icon, located in the top-right corner of your screen.
- Select the contacts you'd like to start a group conversation with and press Start. Invited contacts will receive an alert that the conversation has started.
Creating a Group Conversation From a Contact's Talk Screen
This task is performed on the user's device (Android or iOS).
- From the Contacts tab, select a user you'd like to include in a group conversation.
- Tap the three horizontal dots located to the right of the user's name and select Add participants.
- Select the contacts you'd like to include in the group conversation and tap Start. Invited contacts will receive an alert that the conversation has been created.
Using Group Conversations
- Group conversations will be displayed in your Recents tab.
- Users can disconnect from group conversations by tapping the power icon in the top-right corner of their screen.
- Group conversations can be renamed by any included member.
Removing Group Conversations From the Recents Tab
- Users can remove group conversations from their Recents list by swiping left on the conversation and tapping the trash can icon:
- Once removed, the user can only re-join that conversation if they're re-invited by another user.
