Dispatch Hub—Zello's Windows and macOS desktop app—offers integrated maps for heightened fleet management, giving dispatchers the tools to effectively support on-the-go frontline workers.
These maps enable dispatchers to track drivers' location in real-time, as well as gain critical insight into their user status and device's battery. Additionally, Plus subscribers will gain access to Google Maps traffic data and historical breadcrumb tracking, providing greater visibility into routes and timelines.
Note that these features require enablement in the console, as well as enablement of location services on the end-user's device. Locations will not be tracked unless these steps are taken. Additionally, only dispatchers who have been granted maps access in the console will be able to see locations. See the following section for more information.
Enablement
A network admin must complete steps 1 and 2, as described below. Additionally, end users must allow Zello access to their location on their individual device.
Step 1: Enable GPS Location Tracking
Location tracking requires enablement from the Management Console's Settings page. To enable GPS location tracking:
- Sign in to the Management Console at [yournetworkname].zellowork.com. Open the Settings tab.
- Go to Common > Location Tracking. Find GPS Location Tracking—toggle it on.
Step 2: Assign the Dispatcher Console Maps Access
Dispatchers must be granted access to the web console's maps to view drivers' locations. To grant map access:
- Open the Management Console's Users tab. Click the username you'd like to assign maps access to.
- Under the User Settings section, find Web Console Access. Click the dropdown and select Map.
Accessing the Map
-
Open Dispatch Hub and select Window > Map from your system’s taskbar:
-
Open Dispatch Hub, then open the Zello menu (3 horizontal lines in the upper-left corner of the application). Go to to Window > Map.
This will open a map view that pinpoints active users’ locations.
Click on a user’s name to gain greater insight into their status. From here, you’ll see the time the user was last active; their device’s battery charge; and their speed in MPH. Additionally, the dispatcher may take the following actions on this screen:
Call User | Click to place an outgoing call to this user. Your screen will be redirected to the active calls queue, and the user you’re calling will be notified. |
Open in Google Maps* | Gather real-time traffic data using Google Maps. |
View Location History* |
